Google Simplifies 2-Step Verification Process With iOS Search App Prompt

It looks like Google will be bidding farewell to the 2-step authentication and verification as they follow in the footsteps of Facebook and Twitter by introducing a notification method as a means of login verification. The two-step verification process prevents unauthorized access if someone obtains a user password.

Previously, users had to opt to receive a text message or phone call to get an authentication code, or alternatively use the Google Authenticator mobile app, which generates time-limited numerical codes that users needed to enter into their account log-in page.

This will be making its way to both Android and iOS.

For  iPhone users

They will have to go the extra mile and install the Google Search app in order for it to work. Termed as Google Prompt, a pop-up message will appear on screen, displaying the name and profile picture of your set Google account, along with the location from which it is currently being accessed.

There are two options here :-

¶ it allows the user to sign-in

¶  it denies the user access.

So all you have to do is simply click to sign-in and you’ll be signed in.

For Android users

The good news for Android users is that Google Prompt is installed into Google Play Services, which is already installed by the manufacturer on every Android device. Just update to the latest version and your phone will be able to make use of Google’s newest login feature.

How To enable two-factor authentication.

Just follow this steps:-

¶  sign into Google's My Account section

¶ select Google prompt under Sign-in

¶ Security

¶ Signing in to Google

¶ 2-Step Verification.

Note that it we take up to three days for the feature to appear across all account pages.

The Google app is a free download for iPhone and iPad available on the App Store.
